It is QHBA's continued mandate in 2026 to highlight residential construction as a foundational economic driver and to discuss targeted fiscal measures that can stimulate housing delivery, job creation, and regional economic growth. A key priority is the temporary removal of provincial and federal sales taxes on new home sales as an economic stimulus tool.

• Residential construction supports extensive supply chains including its own industry, as well as manufacturing, supply,     transportation, professional services, financial institutions, and retail. It also creates a new resident tax base for municipalities.

• Residential construction brings jobs to the economy - both onsite and offsite
• Infrastructure and servicing delays limit housing delivery and broader economic growth
