BUILDING COMMUNITIES 101 - QHBA’S ELECTION EDUCATION CAMPAIGN FOR CANDIDATES

As the Municipal Election quickly approaches, Quinte Home Builders’ Association (QHBA) is launching a practical regional education initiative for incumbent councillors, municipal election candidates, municipal staff, and community leaders across the Bay of Quinte region.

“Building Communities 101” is designed to provide a clear, non-political overview of the residential construction industry from the industry’s perspective while highlighting the direct relationship between housing, economic development, workforce attraction, infrastructure planning, and long-term community growth.

Delivered by the QHBA CEO alongside industry experts in home building, land development, engineering, planning, and housing, this travelling education road-show will provide participants with a practical understanding of how housing gets built, what impacts affordability and supply, and how municipal decision-making and infrastructure planning directly influences investment and growth across the region.

The program is intended to strengthen collaboration between municipalities and the residential construction sector while supporting informed, balanced decision-making at the local level.

The QHBA will also be hosting Mayoral Candidate Roundtable events as we have held in the past, on the same dates across the region.

Building Communities 101 and Mayoral Candidate Roundtable event dates and locations (Belleville, Quinte West, Brighton, Prince Edward County + more) will be announced shortly in our Events Calendar

Consultation Launched on Building Code Advisory Body

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) has launched a full-scale review of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) that closes on August 14. Led by a newly formed Short-Term Advisory Body, this initiative aims to cut red tape, lower costs, and speed up housing delivery. For a fulsome overview of the consultation, please refer to the Building Code Short-Term Advisory Body Consultation Paper (Summer 2026) or see Code News Issue 383 (both linked for full consultation information).

MMAH would like a high volume/quantity of submissions that speak to a variety of issue areas and particularly, if we have geographic nuances that may be of relevance. We are encouraging members to provide us with any detail regarding this review so that we may provide a Quinte submissions for this specific consultation. Please email us with your concerns, comments or thoughts to ceo@quintehomebuilders.com by August 12 at 5pm.

Remember, it was your very feedback and input that has allowed us to have a direct impact on legislative change in our industry with this government.

Your voice matters. QHBA’s voice matters. We look forward to your feedback.

Builders' Golf Classic Update: We’re Almost 100% Sold Out

The Builders’ Golf Classic is officially at capacity - except for two remaining foursomes, each tied to a sponsorship package.

If your company wants to connect with 144 industry golfers while supporting the community around it, a Builders' Golf Classic sponsorship lets your brand do exactly that with:

  • Posts on both QHBA & CSV social media
  • Company logo on giveaways
  • Logo on banners, hole signage, digital assets, and scorecards
  • Insertion opportunity for your branded info/promo items in golfer swag bags

It’s simple: show up as a sponsor, get your team on the course, and get your name in front of the right people. Two foursomes left. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Not golfing this year?  We have additional opportunities available such as our Food Truck Sponsor, Watering Hole Sponsor, Dunk Tank Sponsor, Longest Drive Sponsor, Closest to the Pin Sponsor and more.

Contact us at info@quintehomebuilders.com or via phone at (613) 970-2216 to let us help you build a sponsorship opportunity that suits your business needs.
